Andrew Young

Andrew Young is an American civil rights leader, former politician, and diplomat. He was born on March 12, 1932, in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a colleague and friend of Martin Luther King Jr., Young played a key role in the Civil Rights Movement and was an active participant in pivotal moments such as the Selma Voting Rights Campaign and the March on Washington. Young later pursued a career in politics, serving as a U.S. Congressman from Georgia, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations under President Jimmy Carter, and the Mayor of Atlanta. He is also noted for his efforts in improving international relations and urban policies. After his political career, Young has remained involved in various humanitarian and advocacy initiatives.
