Anne George (1927-2001) was an American author and poet best known for her Southern Sisters mystery series. The series, which includes eight books, is a humorous and cozy collection of mysteries featuring a pair of sassy, middle-aged sisters, Patricia Anne "Mouse" Hollowell and Mary Alice "Sister" Crane, who become amateur sleuths and solve crimes in their hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. Anne George's books combine elements of traditional mystery with witty dialogue and a warm exploration of family relationships. In addition to her mystery series, she also wrote and published poetry, for which she received various accolades, including the 1994 Alabama State Poet award.
