Dion Fortune

Dion Fortune, born Violet Mary Firth on December 6, 1890, was a British occultist, ceremonial magician, novelist, and psychologist. She is best known for her works in the field of esotericism and her role as one of the most influential figures in modern Western mysticism and the Western esoteric tradition. Fortune was a member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, an organization that practiced ceremonial magic. After a falling out with the Golden Dawn, she went on to form her own group, the Fraternity (later Society) of the Inner Light, through which she taught her own synthesis of mystical and magical practices. She wrote numerous books on the occult and supernatural, combining her knowledge of psychology with her interest in mysticism, including titles like "The Mystical Qabalah" and "Psychic Self-Defense." Dion Fortune's work has been influential in the New Age and Neopagan movements and continues to be widely read and appreciated by occultists and esoteric scholars. She passed away in 1946, but her legacy endures in her extensive writings and the organization she founded.
