Elie Wiesel (1928-2016) was a Holocaust survivor, human rights activist, and Nobel Laureate. He has written more than 40 books, including his internationally acclaimed memoir Night, which recounts his experiences of suffering at Auschwitz as a teenager. His skills as a writer uniquely expresses human beings confronting extreme suffering and pain. He has dedicated his life to ensuring that the world never forgets the atrocities of the Holocaust. Together with his wife Elie Wiesel founded the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity.
