Henri J.M. Nouwen (1932-1996) was a Dutch Catholic priest, professor, writer, and theologian. He was a prolific author, writing over 40 books on the spiritual life, including such classics as The Wounded Healer, Reaching Out, and The Return of the Prodigal Son. He was known for his emphasis on compassion, community, and spirituality.
