Jerry Siegel was an American comic book writer best known for co-creating the DC Comics character Superman with artist Joe Shuster. Siegel and Shuster created the character in 1933 while both were still in high school. The character first appeared in Action Comics #1 in 1938 and has since become one of the most iconic superheroes in the world.
