Katherine Applegate is an American children's and young adult fiction author best known for her novel The One and Only Ivan, which won the 2013 Newbery Medal. Her other works include the Animorphs series, Home of the Brave, and Crenshaw. She also co-wrote the picture book Wishtree with her husband.
