Kawai Strong Washburn

Kawai Strong Washburn is a Hawaiian filmmaker, writer, and activist from Molokai, Hawaii. He is best known for his documentary film, Molokai: The Story of Father Damien, which tells the story of the Belgian priest who devoted his life to treating Hansen's Disease patients on the Hawaiian island of Molokai. Washburn is also an advocate for indigenous rights and works to bring attention to the struggles of Native Hawaiians.
