Larry McMurtry is an American novelist, essayist, and screenwriter. He is best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel Lonesome Dove, which was adapted into an Emmy Award-winning television miniseries. He has written more than thirty novels, two memoirs, and numerous screenplays, including the Academy Award-winning screenplay for Brokeback Mountain.
