Martin Gardner (1914-2010) was an American mathematician, writer, and skeptic, best known for his "Mathematical Games" column in Scientific American magazine from 1956 to 1981. He wrote over 70 books on topics ranging from philosophy and religion to puzzles and mathematics, and was a prominent figure in the skeptical movement.
