Monty Roberts

Monty Roberts is an American horse trainer known for his pioneering work in developing non-violent training techniques for horses. Born on May 14, 1935, in Salinas, California, he grew up around horses, initially learning traditional, more heavy-handed methods of horse training. However, through close observation of wild horses and a desire for more humane practices, Roberts developed his method known as "Join-Up," which involves communicating with horses based on their body language and social dynamics. He gained worldwide fame with the release of his 1996 book "The Man Who Listens to Horses," which recounts his experiences with horses and outlines his methods for non-confrontational training. Roberts has since become an influential figure in the equestrian world, conducting clinics, demonstrations, and writing additional books to teach others about his practices. His approach has been embraced by many for promoting a more compassionate and understanding relationship between humans and horses.
