Nicholas D. Kristof is an American journalist, author, and op-ed columnist formerly for The New York Times. Born on April 27, 1959, Kristof is known for his coverage of human rights issues and social injustices, such as the genocide in Darfur and the plight of the disadvantaged around the world. He has won multiple Pulitzer Prizes, sharing one with his wife, Sheryl WuDunn, for their coverage of China's Tiananmen Square democracy movement. Together with WuDunn, Kristof has co-authored several books, including "Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide," which addresses the oppression of women and girls in the developing world.
