Sjón is the pen name of Sigurjón Birgir Sigurðsson, an Icelandic poet, novelist, and lyricist born on August 27, 1962, in Reykjavik, Iceland. Renowned for his imaginative and lyrical writing style, Sjón often blends elements of Icelandic folklore, history, and mythology into his works. He gained international recognition with his novel "The Blue Fox" (2003), which was awarded the Nordic Council's Literature Prize. Aside from his work in literature, Sjón has collaborated with fellow Icelandic artist Björk, writing lyrics for several of her songs and albums. His books have been translated into multiple languages, allowing his evocative and often surreal storytelling to reach a global audience. Additionally, Sjón is involved in the performance art group Medúsa and has worked in various artistic capacities throughout his career.
