Surya Das, born Jeffrey Miller, is an American-born lama in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. He is a poet, chant master, spiritual activist, and author of several popular works on Buddhism, meditation, and spirituality. Surya Das is known for his accessible and western-friendly approach to teaching Buddhism, which has helped bring Tibetan Buddhism into the mainstream in America and other western countries. He founded the Dzogchen Center and the Western Buddhist Teachers Network, and he is also associated with the Dzogchen tradition in Tibetan Buddhism. His books, including "Awakening the Buddha Within: Tibetan Wisdom for the Western World" and "The Big Questions: How to Find Your Own Answers to Life's Essential Mysteries," have been influential in introducing the principles of Buddhism and meditation to a broad audience.
