Upton Sinclair

Upton Sinclair (1878-1968) was an American novelist and social activist who wrote more than 90 books in many genres. He is best known for his 1906 novel The Jungle, which exposed the terrible working conditions in the meatpacking industry. His work inspired social reform and helped bring about the Meat Inspection Act and the Pure Food and Drug Act.
