William Styron (1925-2006) was an American novelist, best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Confessions of Nat Turner. He is also known for his novels Lie Down in Darkness, Sophie's Choice, and Darkness Visible. Styron's works are known for their exploration of themes of tragedy, history, and the human condition.
