Xenophon

Xenophon (circa 430–354 BC) was an ancient Greek philosopher, historian, soldier, and student of Socrates. He is known for his writings on the history of his own times, the sayings of Socrates, and the life of ancient Greece. Xenophon's most famous works include "Anabasis," which chronicles the expedition of Greek mercenaries, known as the Ten Thousand, through Persia and their journey back home; "Cyropaedia," a partly fictional account of the education of the Persian king Cyrus the Great; and "Memorabilia," a collection of Socratic dialogues. His works are valued for their historical and philosophical insights, as well as their clear and straightforward prose style. Xenophon's practical philosophy and varied life experiences, including his military leadership, contributed significantly to both the fields of history and philosophy.
