Gathering Blue is a young adult dystopian novel by Lois Lowry, published in 2000. It is a companion book to The Giver, and is set in the same universe and time period. The story follows Kira, a young girl with a deformed leg who lives in a post-apocalyptic village. In this society, disabled people are considered useless and are disposed of. Kira is called to the Council of Guardians, who find her to be skilled at weaving and allow her to stay with them.
