This is an early example of illustrations by the great and legendary Ezra Jack Keats, who would go on to publish The Snowy Day, considered one of the most important American books of the 20th century. You can see his great signature style in this book, which would later be seen in Snowy Day as well. This book predates that award winning book by about 5 years. This is a 1958 weekly reader school edition. The dust jacket has a bit of writing, as well as some tearing, over the nearly 70 years.
