This book was hard to read. The abuse and atrocities that Daiyu suffers are awful and often unfathomable. At the same time, the writing is so beautiful. This book was so sad but also so worth reading. Daiyu hasn't had an easy life.... being smuggled in a barrel to America and everything after will open your eyes to the plight and endutance of a people. This is little-known history and based on true experience (even more shocking).
