The Red Tent is told in the voice of Dinah, a woman only hinted at in the bible which follows her father, Jacob, and her brothers in great detail. This book instead focuses on Dinah and her mothers (Jacob’s four wives)—Leah, Rachel, Zilpah, and Bilhah. The Red Tent provides a new view of biblical women’s society.
