Seller Description
The Robots of Dawn by Isaac Asimov is the third novel in his Robot series, following detective Elijah Baley. He is sent to the Spacer world of Aurora to investigate the “murder” of a humaniform robot named Jander Panell. Jander, created by roboticist Dr. Han Fastolfe, mysteriously shut down, and Fastolfe is the prime suspect. Since Fastolfe supports Earth’s expansion into space, his political rivals aim to discredit him by blaming him for Jander’s destruction. With the help of his robotic partner, R. Daneel Olivaw, and the humanoid robot R. Giskard Reventlov, Baley navigates Aurora’s complex society, including encounters with Fastolfe’s daughter and a powerful political faction. He eventually discovers that Giskard, secretly capable of telepathy, was responsible for Jander’s shutdown under Fastolfe’s subconscious influence. However, Fastolfe remains innocent of any crime. The novel ends with Baley realizing the potential dangers of robotic telepathy and setting the stage for future developments in Asimov’s universe.
