Messenger is a 2004 young adult dystopian novel by Lois Lowry. It is the third book in The Giver Quartet, which began with The Giver in 1993. Messenger tells the story of Matty, a teenage boy who discovers he has supernatural powers. Matty lives in Village with Seer, a blind man who Matty cares for. When the town's people vote to close Village to outsiders, Matty sets out to bring back Seer's daughter. The novel is set in the same universe as The Giver.
