That’s what Travis tells everyone. Travis Mills is from my home town. The entire area was all small towns, so everyone knew everyone and everyones business. I didn’t know him well as he graduated several years after me but he worked at the local grocery store and always had the best attitude and would make my daughters giggle like crazy, even if they were crying minutes before. I do remember the day he said he wouldn’t see us for awhile and he’d miss making the kids laugh because he was enlisting. I also remember Facebook lighting up on April 10th, 2012 when he we learned that he was gravely wounded and at that time he was in critical condition and a triple amputee at the time. Later he’d become a quadruple amputee. He’s one of 5 who have survived injuries and being a quadruple amputee. He wanted to give up. He tried pushing his wife away and she said no way. Then he became determined, determined to greet his regiment when they came home. He has the most incredible outlook. He’s done so much more. He’s a motivational speaker. He has a retreat in Maine for wounded soldiers. He runs marathons, learned to drive again etc. He’s gotten to see his daughter grow. She was 6 months old when he was injured and they’ve had a son. They named him after the medic who saved him. Travis’s story is so inspiring. If a person can go through all of that, we can go through anything.
