This is a series of 40+ vignettes that give the reader a view into the author’s life growing up on Mango Street, Chicago. It was so nicely written, I had to sit and digest each one. So even though it was only about 140 pages, it took me a few days to read. I loved every second of this one.

This is such an important reflection from a young women on living in an area where minority groups are impoverished, along with women being mistreated by those around them. Quick but important read.
