Happy 2025! If your 2024 was anything like mine with ridiculous injuries or other things then 2025 is OUR year for sure! I'm Katie and am a medical professional working on a contract in remote Alaska. I decided to start selling books as a way to fill my time as the dark winters have been rough on me and are pretty lonely. I find myself having full conversations with my dogs. I turned out to love selling books and have met some really great people. For fun I love riding horses, camping, fishing, hunting, and crafting. I have three adult children that I love and miss dearly while being away from home (Oregon). I wanted to talk about shipping from Alaska for a moment. IT SUCKS! It is the "Last Frontier" after all. Pango requires anyone selling books to use media mail. The benefit of this is it is the cheapest way to mail books. The downfall is, it's the slowest way to mail books. I make daily runs to the post office so I try and mail books the same day as they are ordered. The exception to this is when the post office is closed on Sundays and other days they are closed for federal holidays and occasionally when we have more severe than normal weather. I will let you know if there is a weather delay for sure. They don't happen often. The process to ship from Alaska is weird. 1st. I drop off the shipment at the post office. It is then transferred to Anchorage, Alaska and placed on a barge. I believe it is only certain days of the week. The shipment is taken by barge to Seattle, Washington. Tracking shows the item as departed Anchorage and this is the sailing time. Once the shipment gets to Seattle it's flown to the next distribution center and so on until it arrives at your location. The process normally takes about two weeks (but the holidays were extra long) The longest part of the trip it seems is the sailing time. I just wanted to explain this in case you need something quickly it can't come from Alaska. (My amazon orders even with prime shipping take weeks) I try to keep my book prices on the lower end (as low as I can price them without Pango fees being more than the book itself) for this inconvenience and offer free shipping over 35 regularly.
