Andrei Codrescu is a Romanian-American poet, novelist, essayist, screenwriter, and commentator. Born on December 20, 1946, in Sibiu, Romania, he emigrated to the United States in 1966 and became an American citizen in 1981. Codrescu is known for his distinctive, often witty commentary on American life and culture, which he has contributed notably to National Public Radio's (NPR) program "All Things Considered" since 1983. In addition to his commentaries, Codrescu has authored numerous books of poetry, fiction, and essays. His works often explore themes of identity, exile, and transformation, drawing on his own experiences as an immigrant.
