The Ash Princess weaves a tale that most of us YA fans are accustomed to. Main character loses kingdom, main character wants kingdom back, and main character falls for the bad guy. While there were parts of the story I didn't care for, I still found myself enchanted to continue reading.

It has the insta-lust, lust-triangle, and the rebel-rising princess trope. I really had high hopes for this one, but again, this book does nothing original or unique with this trope.
