Seller Description
Signed by photographic artist Marcia K. Keegan (1938-2016). Her works are in such distinguished collections as the Library of Congress, the White House and the Metropolitan Museum of Art and was awarded the Heritage Preservation Award for Lifetime Achievement 2016. The book is in excellent condition with firm binding and clean pages. There are no markings except on the first page opposite the cover which has a gift presentation label. The dust jacket is also in excellent condition. ~ Portraits of people, ceremonies and villages in the American Southwest taken in the early part of the century are contrasted with current photographs of similar images. Early photographers thought that they were documenting a dying race and culture. Keegan demonstrates the vitality of Native American culture and shows how the same customs and ceremonies are being continued.
